Ruger American Rifle® Gunstocks
Hardwood Gunstock options for the Ruger American Rifle
As a product of their constant innovation, Boyds is the first company to offer replacement gunstocks for the highly sought-after Ruger American Rifle® with 6 standard maple and walnut hardwood options and 13 hardwood laminate options. All are available with either a standard or high gloss finish for both the Ruger American Rifle® Classic and Prairie Hunter designs.
The Boyds Classic design (pictured above) for the Ruger American Rifle® is a compilation of the design elements we have found to be the most elegant and user friendly examples of the classic style. The slender, somewhat open grip is well defined, but does not extend too far below the toe line. The comb is parallel to the bore, which aids in scope use, and because of its straight-line design, minimizes cheek slap under recoil. Additional facial support is provided by a graceful cheekpiece that blends perfectly with the overall shape of the buttstock. The forend is flat/oval in cross-section, and is proportioned to complement barrels of 22-26 inches.
The Boyds Prairie Hunter design for the Ruger American Rifle® sports a Monte Carlo comb that is slightly raised to parallel the bore. This aids in proper cheek alignment for scope usage. The Prairie Hunter design also has nicely blended flutes in front of the comb to conceal the thumb and prevent thumb to nose contact when the gun recoils. A graceful cheek piece provides additional facial support and is blended beautifully into the stock and grip. This discourages the shooter from climbing up onto the scope. It also keeps the stock aligned with your shoulder for superior recoil absorption. A slender and slightly open oval pistol grip with slight palm swell is well defined with the comb. This gives you a firm grip, allowing quick mounting to the shoulder. It also aids in proper eye position with the scope. A sleek, beveled and hand-conforming forend is oval in shape and allows superior palm to forend weld. This helps improve off hand shooting. The forend is proportioned to complement barrels of 22 to 26 inches in length.
Boyds also has many custom gunstock options now available for the popular Ruger American Rifle®. These include laser engraving, custom grips, custom length of pull, custom recoil pads, and custom tips.
