A Tribute To One of Our Own:

Kurtis Maus –

2/8/1970  to  11/21/15

I want to tell you about a man who has helped to make Boyds Gunstocks what it is today.

Kurtis Dean Maus is a man who started working at Boyds Gunstocks 15 years ago, in 2000.  He was a core part of our sales team for many years due to his kind spirit, gregarious nature, and ability to draw people in with his knowledge and passion for Boyds.  He managed accounts, went on sales calls, and made many friends across the industry.

The last few years Kurt has been part of the manufacturing team of Boyds. There he was able to use his knowledge of firearms and customer needs to help produce the gunstocks everyone loves.  Kurt’s coworkers enjoyed his great sense of humor, his genuine kindness, and his passion for friends, family, and the outdoors. Kurt was a people person. He liked everyone and everyone liked him.

Seldom do we get an opportunity to work with someone that is universally accepted and loved.  Kurtis Maus was definitely one of those rare people.

Life on Earth is fragile, and so temporary; it is with great sadness that I share this with you:  Kurtis passed away on November 21, 2015 from a heart attack while deer hunting – enjoying one of the things he loved.  He was 45 years old.

We have lost a strong, hard worker, and a truly wonderful man.  Kurtis has helped Boyds Gunstocks grow and become the company that it is today.   We thank you, Kurt, for all you’ve done for us and our valued customers.  We miss you.

A memorial Fund has been established in Kurt’s name at Wells Fargo Bank at 403 N. Lawler Street in Mitchell, SD 605-995-3500 .
